Gay Marriages Halted

A bit of sanity in California today...

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - The California Supreme Court on Thursday ordered an immediate halt to gay marriages in San Francisco, delivering a victory to conservatives who have fought for a month to block the ceremonies. Meanwhile, Massachusetts lawmakers reconvened Thursday to consider a ban on gay marriage. They gave preliminary approval to a proposal that would ban gay marriage but allow civil unions.

I didn't think the California Supreme Court had it in them to actually interpret the law. This is a refreshing change of pace. They have not commented on the legality of the gay marriages that have already taken place and will hear the case in May or June. Read the entire story here.

Just a thought - why is it sanity to ban same gender marriage. Don't you think that it would enhance the sanctity of marriage to ban shows like "The Bachelor" and "who wants to Mary a Millionaire" - you know those so-called reality shows that portray marriage based on money and power and general male ego as opposed to love. Oh, yeah - and the fact that it is completely okay to marry someone without knowing them for more than a week. But yet it is so horrible to be same gender and actually LoVE your partner. If you ask me, the sanctity of marriage was damaged long ago, even thousands of years ago when such wonderful Christian kings and nobles FORCED their daughters to marry men for power and land, not for love. But i'm sorry for my cynical thoughts, but I guess that being same gender and marrying For LOVE is more horrible and more devastating than the desecration of marriage for MONEY. You know, just a thought. Why can't we accept differences in each other and stp trying to force others to believe our truth?
